Normalcy bias about the future
The illusion that civilizational development has reached its final form and will remain unchanged, despite historical evidence of continuous change. This belief sees the future as merely a slight variation of the present. The end of history by Fukuyama illustrates this concept: "That is, the end-point of mankind's ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government."
This mindset also manifests in attitudes toward scientific knowledge, assuming we have already discovered and explained most of what there is to know.
