Tackling avant-garde culture on the internet.
Billy Gallery explored how art can exist on the internet, organizing online projects, exhibitions, in-person events, trips, and screenings. The gallery's axioms are described in the film How Art Works? Billy was primarily run by Pawel Sysiak, co-founded by Tymek Borowski, with significant contributions from Jan Domicz. We wanted to strip away all the layers and complexities of culture and simply ask the core question: What really matters? We reached out to a wide spectrum of people, not just professional artists, to get an answer in the form of a short movie. We believe that any attempt to tackle such a profound question, even if it only scratches the surface, is a big deal.

The Billy Gallery Team proposes a new model for the art market and art creation mechanism. It advocates for a shift in how art funds are allocated, focusing on paying for artist time instead of material objects and infrastructure. Art institutions could have full-time artist teams akin to sports clubs, theater groups, or architecture studios. Additionally, this environment can foster collaboration, potentially elevating the quality of work. Many of our civilization's greatest achievements are the result of collaboration, yet extended collaboration remains largely absent from the art world.
