'Billy is is going to change art economy!'

1.WHY BOTHER? ART IS BLOCKED

The Art market environment hugely affect current art creation scope, the current art scene. In the times of post-conceptualism art still generally evolves around materiality. There is no existing alternative, sustainable model of art economy. Today artists in order to really get anything from the art world (money, audience, exhibitions opportunities) - have no other option but to think in terms of material objects.

2.PUBLIC MONEY

Art sector is exception when thinking about distribution of public money in culture. Public money in theater, music, film in much serious parts are going to creators themselves. Whereas in art - funds are rather spent on: renting&maintaining huge spaces, producing temporary architecture & temporarily displayed artworks; for cement, screws, drills, partition-walls. For salaries of builders, electricians, managers and then.. maybe.. partially to curators, artists, designers.

3.ART TEAMS

Let Imagine flipping this situation. If museums, art-events or art-institutions, alike sport clubs (but also theaters, philharmonics) - would sign artists on time based contracts. Imagine if museums would assemble executive team of artists, curators, designers in order to work solely on Internet content. Imagine if all that collaborative effort plus budget of one exhibition would be invested in one Youtube movie, Ipad app or interactive ebook.

4.WHY NOW? INTERNET TIMES!

We think its a matter of time when art will change its default medium - from current - 'white cube' to the obvious - Internet. It’s inevitable because it is allowing a wider access; it is significantly lowering costs and in relation to temporal exhibitions it is enabling permanent access to the created content.

5.EXPLANATION EMBEDDED

We feel that the division between art and its theory is wrong. Isn’t - what we naturally perceive as art outcome - is something close to art album? Namely - images and explanations combined? It would be super interesting to work on putting theory and interpretation inside frames of the artwork - to finally break the division between artists and curators.

6.POWER OF GROUP WORK

We think modern Art too rarely tried to gain from collaborative work attitude. And hey? Doesn’t that type of work generate the most powerful works of culture? Think of collaborative approach of film studios, architectural offices (the amazing Casa de Musica!!) or older unions of Arts like creation of Partenon, Chartres, Versailles.

7.HOW?

Billy thinks it will be obvious and natural if this way of working will roll out as a popular model of how art institutions will function in future. But how to start? Try ‘Billy Gallery Team!’. Dear museums & art-events & institutions & sponsors - do invest a budget of one exhibtion to employ us on 1-4 month contracts. We will assemble executive team of 3-8 art producers to produce amazing, amazing art.
