Incidentally, this is what drew me to Shiva Yoga when I was first getting in to contemplative practice. They were the first school that had a no-nonsense vibe. "If you want to wake up then here are the things we are doing. You better believe we are fixing your diet and sleep.”

"I sure hope this doesn't have unforeseen lifelong consequences" thought the child, doing their best to physically tense the body in the higher ice cream probability shape.

… They should be directed to yogic practices that help them in mundane ways with their mundane problems: emotional reactivity, virtuous behavior, the fragmented self, interpersonal goals, the trade offs between sensitivity and practicality, skilled empathy, etc.
If they someday circle back around to the deeper problem, they will be well trained to engage with it fruitfully, and in the meantime have had a good life. link
