Things that are juxtaposed seem more different from each other than visible apart.
- When you have two grays say #ccc and #ddd they look more similar than when are viewed apart
- the same is when comparing other things like size, sound, weight etc.
A more complex version of this is the distortion is a situation relating from a vantage point you are looking from:
- if you are 1,8 m and you meet somebody 2,0 m it’s seems like a larger difference than if you a 1,8 m human would be comparing towers that have 180 m and 200 m – in comparison to the observer they both are huge with one slightly larger.
