Paradox: A lot of people claims to read a lot of books while not remembering anything.
New proposed norms around reading:
- Default to skim, read critiques or summaries of the books.
- Read carefully parts that are relevant to you.
- It’s okay to write about the idea from the book even if you didn’t read it fully but disclose which part you did and didn’t read.
- Authors should make this easy by writing comprehensive summaries, TLDRs, divide text in easy to access sections and organized table of contents.
